As the South Australian amateur cricket league gets into full swing for the 2018/19 season, girlfriends around the state have prepared themselves for another long summer of sitting in various suburban parks, watching grass grow.
Tammy (27) has been dating Jake (29) for three years and has already endured two previous seasons of watching him bat at number eight and bowl second change.
She said she can’t wait to melt in 35 degree heat for six hours as she cheers on Jake during his B-grade fixtures.
“I actually started reading for the first time last season and got through a few good books,” she said.
“Along with an esky full of bubbly — it’s the only way to pull through.”
Even when Jakes loses, Tammy always comes good with delivering cricketing terminology in attempts to act interested.
“Bad luck honey! But, you did do some really nice bowls today.”
