Groundbreaking Australian research has found turning down the volume of a car radio is imperative to finding a vacant street parking space.
The RAASA (Royal Automobile Association of South Australia) study of almost 5,000 Adelaide drivers found a significant drop in volume between cars on the open road and those looking for a park.
“The study really shows that we can’t multi-task when driving,” RAASA head of research Dr Phillip Road said.
“So it’s also proof that people should definitely stay the fuck away from their phones when behind the wheel.”
Survey participant and plumber, Greg (33) said there’s something about loud noises that’s ‘blinding’.
“Yeah mate — can’t concentrate when there’s too much shit coming through the wing nuts,” he said.
“Try a bloody reverse parallel with Ben and Liam chirping away.”
The study found drivers also require silence when locating an unknown street address.
More to come.
